Samsung had finally started rolling out Froyo, the latest version of Android, to UK users of its Galaxy S handset.

Google released Android 2.2 in May, but it took months for the update – which brings Flash support, speedier performance, Wi-Fi sharing and other enterprise-friendly features – to get customized by the various phone manufacturers. Verizon Wireless silently launched the Motorola DROID 2 Global on their website today following the pre-orders of the DROID PRO. The DROID 2 Global takes the standard DROID 2 and adds a quad-band GSM radio, which Verizon claims enables voice and data service in over 200 countries, and a faster 1.2 GHz processor. Nokia’s C3 Touch and Type handset may be coming UK stores by October. For the first time since it’s revealing at Nokia World expo earlier this month, the C3 has popped up on Nokia’s UK website, which generally tend to happen before an imminent release.

Nokia is already bringing out its new flagship smartphone, the N8, in October. So a slightly budget-priced release around the same time aimed at the masses makes sense.

Android phones come with big touchscreen. The Motorola Charm is a definitely a different take on the Android smartphone that has a square touch-screen design like that of the Motorola Flipout. The Charm is the second phone to have a Backtrack sensor after the Motorola Backflip. Though the Backtrack works as advertised, we didn’t think it was necessary, and though we like that Motorola refined its MotoBlur interface, we thought it still overcrowded the Charm’s small display.
